The Green Ghost is an old cocktail. It was first published in the Cafe Royal Cocktail Book, a 1937 text created by the head of the London Bartender's Guild. The book grew out of the author's frustration that "at the vast majority of cocktail parties there is little variation in the cocktails offered, and each party is apt to have a monotonous repetition of Martini, Bronx, Manhattan, and White Lady Cocktails." He continues, saying "all, I grant, very good cocktails indeed, but just as apt to be dull." Guess it's fortunate he didn't live through the 1950s through the 1980s in the US! If he had, he would probably have killed for a Manhattan.

Invented by J.B. Hurrell, the Green Ghost is a delicious pale green color, and still preserves a strong Chartreuse taste. Great way to feature the spirit. The VEP version is a bit better structured, but the regular version works fine too.
